Contractor: Discovery + Stewardship Support
Work with the REI Cooperative Action Fund to support the fundraising team
Hourly rate: $35-50/hour | Part time contractor role
Overview: Support the growing pipeline of our fundraising program and help us develop portfolios of corporate and individual support. Work closely with the Director of Development to identify and qualify leads and work in partnership to engage a defined portfolio of donors to close gifts for the Fund.

Role Description
Quality the pipeline for our Individual, Corporate and Foundation relations fundraising revenue stream.
- Seek, research and prepare outreach to 12 corporate funders per month
- Prepare Director of Development for introductory presentations, follow up and follow through to close corporate gifts.
- Research peer Foundations, key contacts, opportunities and create strategies for each prospect
- Create strategy for lapsed corporate partners
- Provide weekly update to share prospects
- Attend monthly team meeting to gather leads and develop relationships with our program officers
- Keep detailed notes of interactions and update CRM or other related documents
- Manage the pipeline of Benevity corporate gifts as leads for our growing program
Steward our existing donors
- Create timely acknowledgement letters for all mail-only donors including DAF donors where possible.
- Prepare personalized outreach to all website donors and identify prospective donors for our major gifts pool
- Research and update donor records based on a key criteria of capacity + alignment with our mission
- Create personalized annual outreach for restricted gifts
- Support Director of Development in creating custom reports for HNW prospects as opportunities arise.
- Deliver REI Fund Corporate Impact Report to all corporate donors
- Support tax preparation by creating donor recognition list for annual audit
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in outdoor industry, nonprofit, sales and/or business development. Fundraising and prospect management preferred
- Experience with CRM type database to track prospect pool and results
- Demonstrated background in closing gifts and/or sales - or growing business development
- Demonstrated commitment to our mission
- Driven self-starter who has a demonstrated in both independent and collaborative approaches to work. Ability to accomplish weekly goals
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to use discretion when dealing with information of a sensitive or confidential nature.
